MotiveLoop (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the MotiveLoop mobile application (the “App”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Display name - entered during onboarding to personalize the experience.
- Habit data - habit names, schedules, completion records, skip records, and behavioral logs (for reduce/quit habits: urge counts, replacement actions, slip counts).
- Preferences - theme settings, mascot selection, reminder times, rest days, and haptics preference.
- Support messages - feedback or bug reports you choose to send from the App, including the message text and basic diagnostic context such as app version, platform, OS version, and subscription tier.
- Purchase data - subscription status and entitlements, managed through RevenueCat. We do not store or have access to your payment method details (credit card, etc.) - those are handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Information Collected Automatically
- Device identifier - a randomly generated ID (not tied to your hardware) used internally by the App.
- Error reports - crash data, error messages, and performance traces sent to Sentry, our error monitoring service. These do not contain your habit data.
- App version - checked against a minimum version to ensure compatibility.
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Location data
- Contacts or phone number
- Photos or camera access
- Advertising identifiers
- Browsing history
- Data from other apps on your device
2. How We Use Your Information
- Provide the service - store your habits, track completions, and deliver reminders.
- Improve reliability - identify and fix crashes and bugs via Sentry error reports.
- Respond to support - review feedback and bug reports you choose to submit.
- Enforce minimum version - check app version on launch to prevent use of outdated clients with known issues.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
3. Data Storage
Local-First Architecture
All habit data, completions, and preferences are stored on your device first using local storage. The App is fully functional without an internet connection.
Third-Party Services
- Sentry (error monitoring) - receives crash reports and performance data. See Sentry’s Privacy Policy.
- Expo (push notifications) - delivers local notification scheduling. No habit content is sent to Expo’s servers for local notifications.
- RevenueCat (subscription management) - processes subscription status and entitlements. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and purchase receipts from the app store; it does not receive your habit data or personal information. See RevenueCat’s Privacy Policy.
- PostHog (product analytics) - receives product usage events such as feature adoption and screen views to help us understand how the App is used and improve the experience. PostHog does not receive your habit names, trigger text, or feedback messages. See PostHog’s Privacy Policy.
We do not use any third-party advertising or tracking SDKs.
4. Data Retention
- Local data persists on your device until you delete it or uninstall the App.
- Error reports in Sentry are retained per Sentry’s default retention policy (90 days).
- Support messages are retained only as long as needed to respond, investigate bugs, and maintain support records.
5. Your Rights and Choices
- Access your data - all your data is visible within the App.
- Delete your data - you can delete all App data by clearing the App’s storage in your device settings or by uninstalling. For any additional deletion requests, contact us at privacy@motiveloop.app.
- Notification control - you can enable or disable reminders at any time from Settings or your device’s notification settings.
6. Children’s Privacy
MotiveLoop is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
7. Security
We use industry-standard measures to protect your data, including encrypted transmission (HTTPS) for all server communication. However, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, through in-app notification.
